Dr. Franklin is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a clinical focus in arthroscopic and reconstructive knee surgery, arthroscopic shoulder surgery, as well as hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Franklin has a strong background in sports medicine, and treats many children as well as recreational and professional athletes for a wide variety of sports injuries.
Dr. Franklin performs over 350 knee surgeries per year. A large percentage of the knee procedures that Dr. Franklin performs are knee arthroscopies, where he uses a pencil-sized scope to remove or repair damaged tissues and reconstruct torn ligaments.
A practicing surgeon for over 20 years, Dr. Franklin has been recognized in Seattle Magazine’s Top Doctors list, as well as the prestigious national Best Doctors list.
Dr. Franklin completed his undergraduate degree at Harvard University, where he was a varsity wrestler for four years. He completed his medical degree and residency at the University of Washington, and went on to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at the Salt Lake Knee Research Foundation. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University School of Medicine.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Franklin grew up enjoying skiing, fishing, and boating. He continues to enjoy being active in the outdoors. He has coached youth football and baseball, and was a volunteer coach for the Boys & Girls Club.
